Dr. Roselli began my research activity on coastal lagoon ecology, particularly with respect to the biogeochemical cycles and eutrophication processes. Her current research activity mainly addresses towards the ecology of phytoplankton in transitional and marine ecosystems.

Particularly, she is interested in:

1. how the interplay of biotic and abiotic factors structures phytoplankton communities in both marine and transitional water environments;
2. how fluctuating resources such as light and nutrients affect competition and coexistence in phytoplankton;
3. how ecological traits, particularly biovolume of major phytoplankton functional groups from both marine and transitional water environments determine plankton community structure.
