Dr. Renata Pikaityte collaborated in this project, as Temporary Research Fellow, from March 2010 to July 2011.
In this period the object of the assignment was: "Development and intercalibration of ecological indicators for assessing the health status of transitional and coastal aquatic ecosystems".
Renata Pilkaityte has got Ph.D. in 2003, her topic was “Phytoplankton seasonal succession and abundance in the eutrophic estuarine lagoons”. Since then started to work as researcher at Coastal Research and Planning Institute, Klaipeda University and lecturer at Biology and Ecology Departments (Klaipeda University).
Since 2008 up to now works as senior researcher and assoc. prof. in the same institutions. The given courses (theory and practice) for bachelor and master students include Algology, Hydrobotany, Plankton ecology. Her research focuses on plankton, mainly phytoplankton biology and ecology, estuarine phytoplankton ecology, eutrophication processes and consequences. She is involved in national and international projects on phytoplankton monitoring, phytoplankton metabolites research tolls, implementation and application of the Ecosystem Approach to Management the eutrophication and others.
